Tony Montana - Cocaine Scene

This is an iconic scene from the movie Scarface where Tony Montana takes a large hit of cocaine, it is paralel to the character Joe Venti's lifestyle in my film Blood Powder, as the addiction to cocaine is there.

Mise-en-scene - Typical mafia clichés, pinstripe suits for costumes, malt liquer drank from a tumbler and the obvious mountain of illigal drugs on the desk, all connotating a blatent disregard for authority and a take what you want look on the world, stereotypical for mafia gangers. The colour and lighting scheme is dull, mainly blacks and browns, red for the ties as another mafia steroetype but this allows the cocaine to reall stand out.

Cinematography - the establishing shot of the scene pans around to reveal Tony slouched in his throne like chair, the scene resembles almost a gothic style castle throne room. The scene uses mostly medium shots and medium close up zooming in and out to convey not only the actors body movement but also ther expressions.
